I live in the woods in New Hampshire, so I am surrounded by nature. It leads one to have an interest in birds and amphibians and bugs because they present themselves in their splendid and nearly uncountable variations of form. Just look at the walking-stick. Who could have a more clever form of deception? Life is so pervasive that no matter where one goes, there are endless manifestations to amaze and amuse. The other day, I watched an ant move a stick off a couple of yards and then drag it underneath my porch. It's truly free entertainment.
